Webpage Design Basics for Non-Designers
July 5th, 2011 – by Mike Wilcox
As web developers, we all make web pages. Sometimes however, we don’t have the benefit of a full team, complete with graphical designers, markup gurus, CSS specialists, usability experts, SEO advocates, a marketing and branding team, etc, etc.
Design is not a talent – it’s a learned skill. This presentation will show you how to build a webpage from scratch, even if you’re not “an artist”. We will walk through everything from logo-design basics, choosing colors and font faces, to constructing a webpage from scratch… that doesn’t suck!

I saw Candy Bernhardt give a 5-10 minute preview of her presentation to the big design conference last week. Websites that don’t suck seem to be a popular topic.
The conference is being held at the Crown Plaza in Addison, July 14-16 with lots of speakers and tracks.
